About SL Volunteers
SL Volunteers was established in 2010 by Lucy Nightingale, a team of fellow UK graduates and Yasintha Rathnayake from Sri Lanka. Their aims were to create an affordable & responsible volunteer organisation, for students and graduates. SL Volunteers has received in excess of 100 volunteers.
Responsible Volunteering
Every team of volunteers are encouraged to work together to develop and improve SL Volunteers efforts in Sri Lanka. The SL Volunteers team regularly consult Sri Lankan and international organisations for guidance and support to ensure that SL Volunteers work responsibly in the communities.
Affordable Volunteering
SL Volunteers work to keep volunteers expenses at a minimum. SL Volunteers do not pay for advertising and rely on past volunteers to help recruit future volunteers. SL Volunteers employ people from the Sri Lanka to support volunteers and all UK Assistant Coordinators are voluntary.
